Today's Key Metrics

Today wasn't really about distance or time but about cycling along the Loire together for the last time. We decided to aim for Montjean and take the train from station on the other side.

We waited for a brief shower to pass and set off with the cloud still clearing down to the river Maine. It was great to be cycling away from the roads again, though we had to dodge the odd jogger and pass the preparations for some kind of running event. Then there was a marina already busy with weekend sailors and then we were on our own again.

A brief but steep climb out of Savennières and we decided not to cross the river again before Chalonnes, but to head straight for the station at Champtocé and were making very good time until Astrid got a puncture! And that with her new tyre. We quickly replaced the inner tube and were back on the road again. There will be time tomorrow to find out the cause.

And we got to the station with plenty of time. Except that we were on the wrong platform and would have to cross a footbridge with bikes luggage and all!

Platform 2 for Angers

Well, we made it by the skin of our teeth and got safely to Nantes. We even bought train tickets - though there was no conductor.
